The most recent 800 Series Diamond revision was unveiled at CES 2010 with the most obvious change to the range being the inclusion of B&W's new diamond tweeter in the smaller 804 and 805 models and the absence of the 801 model.
The 2-way 805 D3 Prestige Edition shares the same drivers, acoustic properties and specifications as its standard-finishes brethren. There’s the gel-decoupled 25mm Diamond dome tweeter which is laser cut, with the diamond diaphragm being vapour-deposited. As such, it may be one of the longest-running speaker lines around. B&W claimed the S to be a further development from both prior models, again with new drive units and a new crossover design. So the delivery of the Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Diamond speakers began with a false start: space had been cleared both for the 803 D3s and their massive boxes, and then – slightly anti-climactically – the hapless courier rocked up yesterday with a pair of the little 805 D3s instead.
